Meet Our Founder
Hey friends! I am Lisa Gaulden, founder of Roots, Coils & Kinks. I'm also a former sufferer of hair loss. For years I searched for a solution to regrow my dry, brittle hair and treat / soothe my inflamed hair follicles. Desperate to heal my scalp and regrow my a hair, I purchased countless products and endured many tests and medications to address my hair and scalp issues. After ten long years living with alopecia, I was left with an empty wallet and zero results (oh, and shelves full of useless products).

There was only one thing left to do. . . develop my own solution. So, in 2021 I decided to take back control of my mane and revisit possible solutions to address my thinning hair and sore scalp. I poured my heart and soul into researching a natural, affordable remedy that would not only moisturize my hair but also address my inflamed hair follicles. Impressed with my own personal results, I began testing my products on people with various hair and scalp concerns. Their results were just as amazing as my own! And not-so-just like that Roots, Coils & Kinks was born! A light-weight, effective product for men and women with relaxed, natural, loc'd, or color-treated hair.

Years of chemically relaxing ultimately resulted in damage to my hair follicles and lead to severe thinning in the crown of my head. So, in 2010 I ditched the creamy crack in hopes of reversing the damage. I scheduled countless visits with physicians who ran tests and checked my blood work. I tried various topical and oral medications; I even endured months of painful scalp injections to address my alopecia. Nothing worked. In fact, my hair continued to fall out and became increasingly thin. I turned to the internet and exhausted everything it had to offer, but nothing worked. So, like many others, I gave up and just “dealt” with my embarrassingly thin, lifeless hair.

In 2020 I decided to revisit possible solutions to address my thin hair as well as ways to keep my dry 4C coils moisturized. Years of research (and trial and error) lead me to create these amazing formulations and Roots, Coils & Kinks was born!
